SaskGaming was established through proclamation of The Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation Act. Originally a Treasury Board Crown Corporation, SaskGaming came under the direction of Crown Investments Corporation of Saskatchewan (CIC), the holding company for Saskatchewan's commercial Crown corporations, on April 1, 2008. SaskGaming is subject to the provisions of The Crown Corporations Act, 1993, which gives CIC the broad authority to set the direction of the corporation.
SaskGaming submits performance management plans and results for review and approval by CIC and Cabinet. Through its Chair, who is an outside Director, the SaskGaming Board of Directors is accountable to the Minister Responsible for SaskGaming. The Minister functions as a link between the corporation and Cabinet, as well as the provincial legislature.
